Holy Wow!  Batman costumes!

Batman – Bruce Wayne’s alter ego – is also known as the Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, the World’s Greatest Detective and as making up the Dynamic Duo with Robin.

“It’s the Batman. Got to be the Batman.”  You might think where have I heard that before?  Well if your kids are anything like mine, it has to be a Batman costume or nothing.

But not just any Batman costume, it has to be the Right one.  It’s a minefield out there; I found everything you could think of.

There are Batman Infant Costumes, Batman Child/Toddler Costumes, Batman Adult Costumes, Batman Plus Size Costumes, Batman Grand Heritage and Batman Collectors Editions for true fans.  (Deep breath) Batman Gloves, Joker Costumes and Makeup Kits.  You get the idea.

However!  I found a costume site that is just fantastic, but with so many choices.  Confusing yes, but I will help you through the dilemma of picking a Batman costume in the Dark Knight theme or the DC comics theme in a snap.

I put together this site as it’s fun to get set for Halloween and dressing up is addictive (I have my eye on a cute Batgirl costume…) once you start putting your little ones into all manner of costumes (there are literally thousands out there) then you will most likely get the bug!  I’m also dreaming of my husband dressed as the Dark Knight (see below), but children may be reading this so I will stop right now.  The costumes are Officially Licensed too so you know that they are as close to the real thing as you can get.

The kids tend to know exactly what they want and the fashion these days is for the Brave and the Bold costumes, it’s the muscle chest that does it, makes them feel all grown up!  Let me show you:

Batman Brave & Bold Deluxe M/C Batman Toddler/Child Costume

Criminals will cower in fear when this daring Dark Knight is near. He’ll overpower them with his immense strength in this disguise, which includes a muscled Batman jumpsuit with attached boot tops and arm gauntlets, utility belt, courageous cape and masked headpiece (to hide his secret identity). The grunts of Gotham won’t know what hit ‘em!

The adult costumes are good fun too; I’ve got this idea that it would be really cute to dress up as a family to go out trick or treating, or to a fancy dress party, this year.  But everyone has their own idea of how they want to look!

I think I can convince my husband to be the Batman, (it might take a few batches of chocolate chip cookies though).  But I want to be Batgirl so if I can convince my little boy to dress up as Robin – which incidentally is in vogue with his promotion as the unofficial leader of the Teen Titans (it’s amazing what you pick up in conversation with the kids) – then our family ensemble will be set as my daughter is already sold on the pink batgirl costume!

Batman Dark Knight Deluxe Muscle Chest Batman Adult Costume

This is very similar to the child costume.  But for men.  I don’t know quite what it is but I think it’s the half mask that reveals the mouth that I find impossible to resist.

It’s quite something.

It includes a black top featuring chiselled muscles on the torso and screen printed sleeves made to look like armor, matching pants with attached boot tops, full over the head character mask featuring the Dark Knight’s signature cape and a rubber Batman utility belt.

Teen Titans DC Comics Robin Muscle Chest Deluxe Toddler/Child Costume

The Teen Titans Robin Muscle Chest Deluxe costume includes a black eye mask, chiselled padded muscle chest jumpsuit with attached boot tops, yellow cape and yellow belt. It’s a great get-up in the style of the popular animated T.V. series.

How cute is this?!  It is fantastic for Halloween trick or treating as you are very unlikely to lose your little super hero in this bright yellow, green and red costume!

Pink Batgirl Child Costume

Who says superheroes have to wear black to fight the bad guys! This Batgirl’s breaking all the rules and by sporting this cool pink uniform instead! Costume includes a pink bat mask, matching pink dress that features a silver “Batman” sign and an attached cape, pink wrist cuffs, silver belt and pink bootcovers to give her a head-to-toe superhero look!

The Joker is another character that is extremely popular with the kids, but it does look amazing on guys, especially if they get the crazy make up (the mask doesn’t look quite right and it’s easier to eat and drink without it).

Batman Dark Knight The Joker Deluxe Adult Costume

In the style of the late Heath Ledger, this costume is great for Halloween.  On kids the Joker costume looks quite cute, but on adults, it’s something else, more sinister and unsettling!

I love the Batman myself and it’s not just because my kids do, I worked on the Batman and Robin Premiere after party.  I had to decorate and paint and dress the venue with a team, it was held in the Battersea Power Station, becoming a quagmire in the heavy rain that did actually add to the atmosphere we tried to effect through props and scenery!  There was a Poison Ivy room that was filled with camouflage net and UV paint everywhere, Mr Freeze had polystyrene icicles up to 10 feet high and the dance floor was just splendid!

It was part of another life, but I can reminisce quietly as I browse the costumes, my life as a theme party painter and prop maker was not as glamorous as it sounds but it was an exciting past nonetheless.
